Hurricane Ophelia kicked my ass.

Hurricane Ophelia never made landfall but she skirted the coast of NC where I live, and unfortunately I was one of the unlucky people who suffered significant damage. Three trees in my yard were blown down, in addition to another tree next door that blocked our road. Two of the trees that fell landed on my house. The first tree that fell is shown in the following two pictures, the 2nd tree that fell was rotten and shattered. The first tree punched about 4 holes in my roof, with the majority of damage being over my daughter Lauren's bedroom. Our power was out from Wednesday at 1pm until Friday evening at 530 pm. Winds were clocked at over 100mph in my area and our county was declared a disaster area by the Prez. Although this is NOTHING compared to Katrina, it still sucks when it happens to you.

BELOW: This huge tree in my backyard was blown down and completely uprooted. Half of the tree is in my neighbor's backyard. It also knocked down our apple tree when it fell...we are hoping that we may be able to salvage the apple tree once this pine tree has been removed.

BELOW: The ceiling in Lauren's bedroom is hanging after many inches of rain fell through the holes in the roof, causing the sheetrock and insulation to become wet and fall. The smell of wet insulation is not good, lemme tell ya. Blech. Lauren has moved into Alex's room until her bedroom is repaired.

My brother's construction crew came and patched the roof and removed the tree from my roof on Friday morning.

BELOW: As you can see I have a lot of yard work to do....well I won't be doing it myself but I will be hiring someone else to do it. As soon as this mess is cleaned up I am going to be removing the remaining 7 pine trees in my yard to prevent this catastrophe from happening again!! Pine trees suck.

BELOW: After the power came back on, we came home and started cleaning. I had to throw out everything in my fridge and go buy more food. As you can see, Buttons was very glad the power was back on, and he was able to cool off. He is chillin.

labor day sucks.

one of the scariest album covers ever.

Song for the Day: Four on the Floor Remix- Starsailor from Layer Cake Soundtrack

News from WWofJ: After an uneventful weekend, I had to return to work today. Why I had to work today is beyond me. There is nothing going on. Its not like I work at a food store or hospital or something important, I am a secretary for a construction company. I have been bored beyond belief today. We watched a couple of Netflix rentals this weekend, Layer Cake- pretty good British drama about drug dealers, but when they say "INTRICATE drama" on the description, be warned. Its confusing. Also Sienna Miller's part barely registered. I don't think she even said more than 4 lines in the whole movie. They could have explored that romance a bit more in my opinion. The Upside of Anger- was pretty enjoyable although what Kevin Costner saw in Joan Allen is beyond me. She had no personality at all, even when drunk. Plus she is way too skinny and has a giraffe neck.
My baby girl starts Preschool Wednesday....I suddenly feel really old. Next year, I will have one in kindergarten and one starting High School. Scary ain't it?

I would post some fun links for y'all to enjoy but I am too lazy bored and depressed today. Maybe tomorrow if you're lucky.
