Enjoy the Ride.

I have had this song stuck in my head for three days now. I figured it might be trying to tell me something. I had never really listened to the lyrics closely but once I did I realized how very true they are...

Just a Ride
- Jem

Life, it's ever so strange
It's so full of change
Think that you've worked it out
then BANG
Right out of the blue
Something happens to you
To throw you off course
and then you

Yeah you breakdown
Well don't you breakdown
Listen to me

It's just a ride, it's just a ride
no need to run, no need to hide
It'll take you round and round
Sometimes you're up
sometimes you're down
It's just a ride, it's just a ride
don't be scared
don't hide your eyes
It may feel so real inside
but don't forget it's just a ride

Truth, we don't wanna hear
It's too much to take
Don't like to feel out of control
So we make our plans
Ten times a day
And when they don't go
our way we

Yeah we breakdown
Well don't you breakdown
Listen to me

It's just a ride, it's just a ride
no need to run, no need to hide
It'll take you round and round
Sometimes you're up
sometimes you're down
It's just a ride, it's just a ride
don't be scared
don't hide your eyes
It may feel so real inside
but don't forget it's just a ride

Slowly, oh so very slowly
accept that
there's no getting off
So live it, just gotta go with it
coz this ride's, never gonna stop

Don't you breakdown
No need to breakdown
No need at all

It's just a ride, it's just a ride
no need to run, no need to hide
It'll take you all around
Sometimes you're up
sometimes you're down
It's just a ride, it's just a ride
don't be scared now
dry your eyes
It may feel so real inside
but don't forget enjoy the ride x2

Sunshine, Indeed

Little Miss Sunshine is one of those rare movies that combines tragedy, warmth, realness, and hilarity. It is an independent film that starts off a bit slow, but allows you time to get to know the characters before they embark on their often hilarious journey to the Little Miss Sunshine pageant. I won't give anything away, but I was in tears laughing at some points during the film. The ending 'dance routine' at the pageant is something not to be missed. Abigail Breslin manages to be adorable and spunky in her own unique way, instead of a cookie cutter image of what cuteness is supposed to be. This is what real families are like, and sometimes it is not pretty but we realize the importance of holding onto them regardless. Enjoy this movie!

I'd rather read fiction.

Lauren and I watched Stranger than Fiction last night. I had really been looking forward to seeing it because I just LOVE Will Ferrell and Emma Thompson, and Maggie Gyllenhaal as well. I was so disappointed. This movie is somber, dark, depressing, and agonizingly long. Will Ferrell does not even crack a smile throughout the entire film. I do not want to watch Will Ferrell frown for 2 hours. I want him to make me laugh, that is what he does best. If you are one of those people who like gloom and doom, this movie is for you. I will say that the ending was not as bad as we are led to believe it will be. Which hardly makes up for the 2 hours of my life I would like to have back.

Cat Lady!

I did some perusing at after my last post, and ordered a few things. They RULE! They have an alarming amount of crazy cat lady items. When did this become a big fad? See below:

This cat looks so much like BOOTS! (Buttons' Mommy)

I had to buy this bumper sticker. It is so true, its downright scary!

And I saw this and considered buying the t-shirt but then thought it might come off as a tad bitter?? LOL. Its pretty funny though.

my faith in humanity has been restored.

I had something remarkable happen to me today. Well let me back up first by saying that I spent yesterday preparing packages to send my ex-bf's presents back to get refunds. Amazon (Doc Marten boots) gave me a pre-printed form and said they would deduct the shipping charges from my refund. Cabela (brown leather jacket) did not give me a form, and I had to spend $8 sending the jacket back. Well, I had ordered two t-shirts and a bumper sticker from They are related to computers and World of Warcraft and I don't know anyone else who plays that game. They didn't give me a return address or return slip so I emailed the customer service dept. I could not believe the response I got in the last email. I will copy and paste the correspondence here. Purple- cafepress. Pink- me.

Question: What address do I send the items to?

Dear Julie,

Thank you for contacting!

There is no need for a return! I don't want you to incur any additional shipping charges. Please keep the items as our way of saying thanks for shopping at

I know it probably doesn't mean much coming from a stranger but I'm really sorry to hear of what happened at Christmas. Keep the items because I'm sure you'll find someone better to give them to. Have a happy new year!

Can you believe this?? A complete stranger has just made my day, my week, hell my year. How cool is that??? I encourage everyone to shop at They are awesome!!!

Tips for avoiding uncomfortable conversations:
Like say someone asks you about your sister, who is a bit don't really feel like getting into a discussion about why your sister is nuts, and wish to just avoid the topic entirely. This is where the magic word "anyways" comes in.
Example: "How is your sister doing?"
Me: "Anyways, the other day my cat puked on the carpet"

You thereby avoid the subject and totally ignore the question all at once. How convenient is that. The person who asked the question is both confused and maybe a little angry and you can be sure they won't ask again.

I got some bath and body works stuff and a candle from Beth, another candle, some cookies and homemade envies from Crys, a $100 pier one gift card from Elaine, Valley Girl on DVD from Andrea (lmao!), a nice tote bag from Rita, bath stuff, a sun mirror to hang in my bedroom, and a sleep mask from Lauren, and some santa mugs from Alex. The best gift I got was a Christmas free from emotional turmoil, thanks to a breakup that was long overdue. :-) May everyone have a wonderful new year. I know that 2007 can only be better than 2006, cause it really sucked ass.

Night at the *yawn*

Don't waste your time and money. Too long, unfunny, and predictable.
I give it 2 thumbs DOWN.

PS Why does Ben Stiller seem to think it hilarious when he pouts his lips and shrugs his eyebrows? It may have worked in Zoolander where he played an imbecile, but its time for a new shtick, Ben. And slapping a monkey just isn't very funny.

gifts for me...woo hoo

Well I just had fun with some online shopping!  I took the $300 I will be getting back from returning my ex's christmas presents, and bought myself a new up-converting dvd player, plus three sets of hdmi cords and an hdmi/dvi switch that allows me to hook up two hdmi devices to my one dvi input on my hdtv. Had to get an adapter as well so that the hdmi cord can use the dvi input.  Hdmi is so freakin cool, it carries the audio and video on one cord. I can't wait. I will be viewing all my old dvds in crystal clear 1080i resolution!! As well as my HDTV set top dvr!! YAY!!!!

PS If this all sounds like complete gibberish, I sorry. I love electronics!!

Happy Happy Joy Joy

I had a revelation last night...a feeling came over me of utter joy as though I had been in prison for the past 4 yrs and was though I could fly like a bird. It's called FREEDOM. And I finally have it....since he is with that girl now, there is no chance of him trying to win me back, which is what happened every time we broke up. I would take him back because I was weak and had no self esteem. No longer. I am going to get what I want out of life instead of the crap that is handed to me. And I am free from dealing with the mental problems of a flatulent commitmentphobic pathological liar with an internet and gaming addiction who cheats.....I could write a novel, y'all. My hatred is gone. I feel so liberated. I see the sunshine now, and it is tearing through the dark clouds and showering me in its radiant bliss.

I don't want to hide in the darkness anymore, I want to shine.

Happy Holidays to everyone!

PS Peter Krause is so freaking fine!! *drool* hehe

You try to make it seem
as though I am the one
who did wrong
and you are an innocent victim

All I did was protect myself
because I knew
it was all gonna
happen again

It may have hurt the first time
but each time it hurt less and less
and now I am numb
I don't feel anything

My heart is well protected
just know that your wounds have not penetrated
they have merely reinforced the armor

Some Pig

My sister, her hubby, Jacob, Lauren and I saw the new Charlotte's Web movie on Friday night and it was a great family movie. Dakota Fanning was adorable as usual (looks so much like my Alex it is uncanny!) and the little pig was so adorable that Lauren wants to get one. I think we have enough pets around here. Anyway I give it 5 stars, two thumbs up and a snap. Also of note was the breathtaking scenery in this movie, it was sooo beautiful.
We ate at Outback (lobster tails, yum) and went shopping at Kmart. We had a really good time :-)

We had the family Christmas party tonight and it was a lot of fun. Mary had cooked tons of food and it was all sooo good. Oysters, scallops, shrimp, sausage balls, meatballs, pigs in blanket, chips, dip, pasta salad, cake, OMG I ate so much! The kids exchanged presents and luckily everyone seemed to like what they got. Right now Alex is playing the "I Can Play" piano game that Rita got her, and having a blast. She just got 100 on a song!

Interesting moments: Andrea's "gremlin-like" sweater that began reproducing at an alarming rate as poofy pink fuzzballs popped off and flew around the room; Me trying to make my head look smaller than Rita's in a picture and only succeeding by getting behind Rita several feet...Why is my head so damn big? Or is Rita's head just surprisingly tiny?

Hope everyone has a great weekend, mine was awesome :-)

TGIF, amen

This has been a rough week and I am so glad it is almost over. I didn't sleep again last night, I had a dream about a-hole and we were fighting so I woke up stressed out. Then I laid there thinking about how I have to send back his Christmas presents, I spent $300 on him. I bought him a nice brown leather jacket, brown leather Doc Maartens, and some cool t-shirts about his dumb computer game. Also I am mad because the bastard stole my Star Wars Original Trilogy and I will have to buy another one. I never even told him he could BORROW it. I also have to call Royal Caribbean and try to change the passenger on my cruise GC I won a few months ago. I am so filled with hate right now, and I don't like it. I want to be ZEN, calm, content. Instead I am just filled with rage about how he treated me....He said I flipped out all the time, well I had every right to get mad during our relationship as he would do nothing but play computer games (which was really his way of picking up women), never paid for anything and was lazy as hell, plus he smokes and even burned holes in my Honda Pilot and never fixed them. I guess I am more mad at myself than anyone else, for staying with him when I didn't really want to. I should listen to my inner voice. I guess being mad is better than being sad, I even TRIED to cry this morning and I couldn't....LOL. He isn't worth my tears anyway.

In other news Lauren and I had a talk last night and have decided to go semi-vegetarian (but still eat seafood, eggs and dairy)...I believe they call it ovo-lacto-pesce-veg or some crap. I did it for a year and a half back in '98 and I lost 80 lbs, felt great and looked fantastic. I want that bod back again! I never thought Lauren would want to go veg, as she has been eating cheeseburgers her entire life, but I am happy about it. It will be a lot easier since I won't have to feed a-hole, and I won't have to cook separate meals for everybody. I will still have to cook a separate meal for Alex, but that is nothing new, the girl eats nothing but cheese and chicken.

Her christmas program was last night, that was fun. It was supposed to start at 630, I got there at 6 and could not find anywhere to park. Had to walk half a mile to the school, then find a seat on cram-packed bleachers. Lucky me, I picked the one in front of the toddler and the baby. The toddler proceeded to kick me intermittently throughout the next hour, and the baby just screamed every few minutes. Alex was in the front and she sang but did none of the hand motions and she looked as though she would fall asleep. It would have been funny as hell if she had LOL. Anyway during intermission we got the heck outta there (2nd portion was the older grades) and went to Seaside for supper, then rode around and looked at Christmas lights.

I do not want to go to work today.....waaaaaaa.
Must drink coffee.
Everybody have a great weekend, except for 3 people who shall remain nameless but who are posted prominently at the top of my SHIT LIST.

My kids are nuts.

Jump Up, Jump Up, And Get Down

happiness from within....

I posted this on my myspace blog earlier today and thought it was worth sharing on blogger as well....
I finally got a good night's sleep!! YAY!! Two muscle relaxers did the trick, baby, I slept like a log. I feel so much better today. I think I will recover from this break up really quickly as I haven't the slightest urge to check up on the a-hole, I don't care wtf he is doing or with who. That just proves what I had really known all along, I didn't love him to begin with. I did care about him, but I couldn't bring myself to love him, partially because I knew he was not trustworthy and would always confide in someone else before me, if he had a problem, and that is not right! I am telling anyone reading this, if you have a problem with your gf/bf whatever, you don't need to go talking to strange people online for advice. Well wait a minute by saying that I am telling you not to take my advice. Oh well, what I am trying to say is that if there is a problem you should discuss it with your SO first, and not a complete stranger, unless of course they are licensed therapists...otherwise it only leads to trouble. So many relationships and marriages have collapsed due to the ease of "internet love affairs". I consider it cheating, to me it is worse than just having sex with someone else. I mean they are pouring their heart out to someone else day after day behind your back, telling them they love them, betraying the one who cares about them. Its cruel. I call it emotional cheating.
Whatever, it's my own stupidity for staying with someone I did not love, deep down I knew he would never change. If any girl online shows him the least bit of attention, he falls madly in love.
I am on to bigger *hehe* and better things and even if the right man doesn't come along, I don't even care....I think my life is pretty damned good as it is. At least I am no longer living a lie.

Wednesday, December 13, 2006

It's funny that after a horrendous couple of days, in which I discovered that my life for the past few months has been a lie and I wasted 4 yrs hoping for something that I thought I wanted but really didn't.....when I have cried myself to sleep after discovering the harsh truth that in the dark recesses of my mind knew all along...that in the midst of all this turmoil, just one person, one man, telling me I am beautiful, can bring a smile to my face and a sense of hope to my heart. Joy returns :-)

the Holiday

Saturday night I saw this movie and yes it is predictable and cute, with requisite happy ending. But don't we all want a happy ending sometimes? My only complaint is that the movie tends to dwell on Amanda (Cameron Diaz) in the UK for extended periods of time, while the audience is yearning to see what Iris (Kate Winslet) is up to in LA. I would keep wondering why they were spending so much time with Amanda when Iris was far more interesting...although Jude Law is incredibly photogenic. Also, Jack Black cleans up really well and is charming and funny. But anyway if you are down in the dumps or just want to escape your miserable life this is a good flick to see with a friend. It gives me hope that I might find love one day....I just need to find someone to switch houses with.
